This book (the particular copy that I own) is incredibly special to me. One of those reasons is that it was thoughtfully given to me by one of the people I admire and respect most in this world. That being said, I am still able to say I thoroughly enjoyed this without bias. I could not put the book down, even having seen the movie 2 or 3 times in recent years and knowing in general how the story plays out. The writing is just so dang good- sharp and witty even. It made me think to myself, "They sure don't make them like they used to." Definitely a rare and wonderful read.

Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse have the opportunity to move into the exclusive, Gothic-style Bramford apartment building...and despite warnings from friends, they take it. Their neighbors, Roman and Minnie Castavets, quickly insert themselves into the young couples' lives. After Guy receives a huge break in his acting career, and Rosemary has a demonic dream, the two learn that Rosemary is pregnant. When the pregnancy doesn't go well, and strange things happen to her close friends, Rosemary becomes suspicious of her overbearing neighbors...and even Guy himself.

A classic slow-burn horror/thriller. Obviously, it's a product of it's time...there are problematic references to the LGBTQ community and Asian people and much of the plot hinges on the fact that doctors can attribute Rosemary's behavior to "hysteria".
