I currently am having a love hate relationship with AE Via’s books I think I have currently read I think four and of those four I have DNF’ed 2 or maybe more…?

Something about this one I didn’t hate but didn’t love. I think the jumping POVs within the chapter and since it’s all 3rd person it takes me a minute to catch up. Also the fact there’s a lot more telling than showing is a bummer, I feel like this could be taken to a higher rating.

And since this had 2 couples in the book getting together simultaneously it was hard to really get to connect with the scenes and characters since it would switch POVs a lot. And there were two more couples who had some page time at the end which made it 6 couples wanting page time in this book! A little much for me to connect with any of the characters.

Also some of the things they did while doing the deed was a little weird for my tastes haha but to each their own!

Overall entertaining but wished for more.

Entertaining, easy listen.

Similar feel to Bounty Hunters series - tough action guys that fall in love fast and hard.

This author's tough guy books are great because they're so OTT that they crack me up. Wouldn’t be able to handle the posturing and uber alpha behaviour if it wasn’t for how sweetly in love they are at the same time.

Liked the MCs fine. Was a little distracted by Ryker’s submission after he was always the one in charge between he and Max. It was the narrator’s portrayal of Ryker’s submissive side that kept pulling me out of the story, rather than the plot around Ryker being the problem. He sounded like a different person and it kept tripping me up. But, all told, Tim Paige is great.

The constant label dropping is really noticeable in this book, and I know it bothers a lot of readers, but it kind of makes me laugh and feels on-brand for this author and these crazy, chaotic stories. Best experienced in audio as usual, and always a wild ride!

This was hard to rate, at times I loved it, at times I didn't like I much at all. Firstly, rather than being one book it's 3 novellas put together. The first is a nice, light romance between a gorgeous club owner and a straight fire fighter. The middle is a master dom / sub trope, in which a man who has been hurt but always wanted someone to care for him learns to trust a dom, embracing the bdsm lifestyle. The last, is a more of a thriller genre with another 15 or so characters introduced, all baddas and at least half of them hard for someone. The last part has all the characters from the 3 stories join up in a rescue mission, there's a hea and a sneak peak at the couple from upcoming books.

I feel these would have been better as a longer, more in depth, seperate stories, with further character development and a seperate plot for each part.

Both pairings are insta lust & super insta love. I would have liked to see more angst, and for the love to develop more, rather than the love at first sight thing. The narrator however did an excellent job, the audio version was very enjoyable.

I also felt the characters instead of developing and growing, reverted... It didn't make sense to me that Ryker, who took care of his brother all his life and managed his own successful business, suddenly needed his Dom to tell him what to do 24/7 or he couldn't function. Yet they didn't even show the evolution of their trust, there was no contract, no safe words, just a weekend of sex we're e told about. And how is it that a badass firefighter goes into complete meltdown when his partner is kidnapped and just shuts down? Max, just like his brother, became so dependant on the love interest he was falling apart without him, when at the start he was portrayed as a strong and brave character it was disappointing to see. Also him bullying the waiter and everyone laughing, that's just being a dick and did not make him anymore likable. Instead, the newly introduced characters were centre stage, clearly to get readers to want to dive into their stories too. I did like the other men and couples, but it felt too much and too disjointed.

Pet peeves, but i also hated how Bass kept calling Ryker 'my boy' on the same page as Angels dad was calling his son 'my boy'. It felt icky, and it happened a lot. The second one was the magical 'limitless' of things. The seal team was described to have "unlimited ammo" cmon at least let's try to be a tad realistic. Also, why on earth was the fire chief / capitan so damn unprofessional, making out with his boyfriend during a meeting, then offering to 'bend rules' to rescue a man who already had the fbi and seals ready to save him? And lastly, why did no one question why the mayor's granddaughter was alone in the wardrobe of a burning flat???

As a mood reader, the main reason I struggled to rate this is I picked it up wanting romance, got it, loved it, but there was more, suddenly I'm reading about swat, dea, FBI, seals and firefighters shooting down a drug lord, like whaat I was here for guys learning to trust their new partners and now I'm feeling all over the place 😂 recommend if youre not sure what you fancy and you like a bit of everything though!
