This is a true escapism read.
Fast-paced, accessible and engaging.

As a romance it fell a bit flat. Their love story happens so fast it borders on insta-love for me. Since their romance couldn’t hold its own and the stakes of the work/project were not as high, once it was finished (about a third into the book) the story started to drag and dwindle a bit.

Finn buying Amber a house after knowing each other for ~4 months is WILD but good for her!!

However, if you can suspend your disbelief and enjoy the ride it’s actually an enjoyable quick read.

This was so much better than the first book and you can see Anise Starre's growth as an author as the story progresses.

It was dual POV and the dynamic between Amber and Finn and was so amazing. We also love a couple that deeply respects each other and a heroine who holds her own and doesn't suddenly because pliant just because someone professes love for her.

I was a in a bit of a reading slump when I came across this book. I was frustrated because every book I picked up didn't hold me for long, but then this one, from the very first chapter, bum!! So freaking good honestly.

I prefer my MML absolutely head over heels for the FML and this one gave me exactly what I wanted! Finn was gone for Amber from the moment he laid eyes on her and their relationship developed in such an entertaining way. Their chemistry and banter was off the charts. The dual POV gave it an extra touch. Also love how Anise made the characters feel real. Honestly, their communication skills and how they shared their troubles instead of closing off was so so great.

I'm dying to read more of Anise, she may become one of my comfort romance authors! I'm so thankful for this book. Like I said, it got me out of a reading slump, also in a moment where the end of the semester was nearing, so it also gave me something to shut off my brain and just enjoy.

I adore Finn and Amber’s relationship so much. He’s become a safe haven who loves her so deeply oh my god. And she’s there to assuage his own insecurities and anxiety! Love the anxiety rep. Also the respect is top tier and I love the pacing of the book. We really got to see their relationship grow and change and they fit together so organically, it was beautiful. I love the message of choosing yourself and cutting off toxic people even if they’re family because that’s super important. Also loved Finn deciding to bffr and admit he has wealth and privilege that helped him get a leg up, and decided to use that to help folks who don’t have that privilege. Overall, really great!
