Although this was a beautifully written book, it was far to similar in nature to her previous novel, The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly.

Like her previous work, it walks the line between adult and children's fiction, myth and fable. It focuses on death, loss and transition. I feel these themes were dealt with successfully in the previous book and therefore this tale felt as if she was stomping old ground, bringing nothing new to the table.

I am not sure whether I am interested in her next translated piece as I have had my fill of sad stories about animals dying.

The Dog Who Dared to Dream is a book that follows the same pattern as the previous book by author Sun Mi Hwang. However, it wasn't as good.

The book has beautiful illustrations that accompany the story and gives the book a nice, cute feeling to it, even though the story is quite sad.

Still, the author does a good job crafting a story from a dog's point of view, discussing themes like life, motherhood and even death. Unfortunately, the whole book felt rushed and partial at some point.

I was looking for a change from crime and this book was it. It was a world populated by animals who can converse with each other and humans who think they understand them.
A book that shows animals have feelings just like humans. They feel pain ,grief and happiness in their too short lives.
They are also capable of unconditional love and loyalty. We can all take a leaf from from the books and lives of so called dumb animals.
For any who likes a lighthearted and paradoxically a read that makes you think, then this is the book for you.
The heroes? of the book are Grandpa Screecher and Scraggly. Opposites who are bonded by love if not understanding.

Read in one sitting for book club. I was skeptical when I saw this was the latest read but I ended up enjoying it despite that is was not upbeat. It was more complex then I was expecting.
