After I finished the first book, I wanted to know more. What would happen next? I think I loved this one even more than the first book. I was hooked again and couldn't stop reading. The twists and turns were a nice change and a finished this book real quick.

4.5 Stars!

This was so damn good, what's so weird is that I disliked the first book so much, but loved this one to pieces.

I don't have a lot of DNF books but I just really lost interest about the time Ethan started freaking the fuck out about Lena possibly knowing another boy that he doesn't know. Possessiveness is just really a turn off. Done with this nonsense.

Heather, I know I'll never hear the end of this, but....this kind of bombed. The things I loved so much about the first book (historical fiction, Genevieve/Ethan, L/ Ethan storyline) fell to the wayside in favor of a whole lotta hot messes. Vexes? Sheers? Waywards? Too much going on.

I'm not sure why this book was written. It seems like the authors didn't have any plan whatsoever but wanted to keep the story going. It's tired, tried, and boring. The only thing I found I liked out of it was that it showed more of the mythology of the world which I still feel is very well done. But the plot was awful, drawn-out, and so typical. Nothing new, nothing resolved. I expected better but am not surprised.

I liked it. When I read the first book a couple of years ago, I was completely obsessed with it, but upon a reread I calmed down, but I was still motivated to move on with the series. This second installment has some really strong points and some really weak ones, which is why it received 3 stars from me.
Strong points
Ethan! He is such a good character and I love that he gets the answers for himself and that he does what he thinks is right! He is strong and he doesn't wallow in self-pity when he finds out about his past or his mother's past! He is strong, independent and an amazing friend. I really really love him.

Ridley! She is making her way to being one of my favorite side-characters!

The plot lines. I love where we went into the past and the new visions and the new magical and mysterious aspects!!

Weak points
LENA! Just no! Poopy pants the whole time, whinney boo-hoo! She makes decisions but cannot for the life of herself own up to them!!! UHGH she frustrated and angered me so much! I'm glad we didn't spend a lot of time with her! I do not understand why she is so annoying about the claiming. She was always so scared about going dark and now all these shenanigans! Just no!

More like a 2.7 / 5

As much as I loved the first book, this was, eh, majorly disappointing to say the least. It dragged and it was dull and cheesy.
For what took 500 pages, nothing much really happened other than some serious Ethan-moping and Lena-bitchiness. By the end of the book, I despised Lena and felt ridiculously sorry for Ethan for being made to mope so much, and I was hoping he'd be all "lol fuq u, Lena" and have a nice mortal!relationship with Liv instead.
Also, the kinda battle~ scene, if that's what you'd call it, at the end of the book was so anticlimactic - I expected much more from it. Aaaand the fact that Ethan and Lena just went back to their old ways afterwards was ridiculous and typical and ugh. No. It was a letdown.
Then the Link!drama in the last couple chapters. Even more no.

To be honest, I'm not sure if I'll continue on with the series after this :/
