4.5 stars, and probably better than the first book. We get a lot more of the other characters in this book, and the story is that much better for it. Jo’s friends, and Caius’ family play a much bigger role. And the relationship between Jo and Caius becomes stronger as they have to work together to uncover what’s happening to the lost souls. There are secrets revealed, and one big betrayal, and in between it all, the story continues to move at a good pace and be interesting to follow. There’s a particularly big reveal towards the end, as well as a big plot movements, no spoilers here, though I can’t exactly say it was a complete surprise, it definitely makes things that much more interesting as we wait for the third book. I for one can’t wait to see where things will go from here!

I had a feeling this is where we were going.

Caius has grown on me so very much. He’s so sweet to Jo but will murder anyone who mistreats her without a second thought. I can only see his protectiveness ramping up from here so I’m excited to see how this series will end.

Book 2 was just as exciting as book 1. I loved the growth of the relationship between Jo and Caius. You see a softer side of them both. The world building was fantastic and completely interesting. We get to hear the full version of the prophecy and it dropped big hints as to what as to come. Then the dreams Jo is having confirmed my assumptions and the journey solidified it. I'm not normally a fan of that trope but it was done really well. Looking forward  to the next one and getting to know all the crew better.
