There was a nod to Murder at the Orient Express when they talked about how breaking a watch to deceive about the time of death was such an amateur thing to do… love a tongue-in-cheek queen. But this wasn’t my favorite…. Enjoyable though.

Effectively tense atmosphere, though laden with just a few too many characters. You do stand a chance of figuring out at least some of what's going on, which makes it more engaging. But it didn't go the way I actually wanted it to go, and the last chapter... well, it seems like a wildly dysfunctional outcome to me, but... whatever!

Taken at the Flood is a strong Agatha Christie novel. As usual, the ending completely surprised me, and I love Hercule Poiroit's quirky character.
The first half the of the novel was actually devoid of Hercule Poiroit, but it was actually a nice change of pace from her normal Poiroit novels.

Points docked for the part where a character realizes their love for someone after that someone tries to kill them (yikes) ; otherwise, really enjoyed!
I say it on all of my Poirot reviews, but I really don’t think we talk enough about how funny Agatha Christie’s books are.
