I love rocks, running away from my problems, romance novels, and royalty AUs so it seems this book was meant for me.
It was like Carry On, except instead of two boys who are enemies to lovers and roommates-- toeing the line between them while fighting numpties and chimeras, its two girls who are enemies to lovers and roomates-- toeing the line between them while swirling together in a dimly lit royal orangery. Like, instead of magic, the novelty was the roaring hills of Scotland, some royal intrigue, and a somewhat bitchy princess.
We follow Amelia through her final year of high school which she’s fortunate enough to take abroad, and after an initially tumultuous relationship with her roommate, the Princess Flora, she spills her guts and gets to kiss her. Then later in a momment of useless bisexual panic she freaks out and picks a fight. The pair commiserate, but then Seb rallies Millie and it’s on with the show! Honestly this book is so cute and pretty groundbreaking— when is the last time you rad a book about a lesbian pincess and her bizexual Texan lover? I definitely imagined the accents of the girls, Flora super Scottish and Millie a southern drawl ♥️

What can I say? It was delightful. I guess I am capable of liking silly YA romance novels after all.
