Another very cute Hallmark romance. College sweethearts Kate and Trent broke up years ago, they are reunited when Kate is hired to ghostwrite Trents autobiography. Time will tell if the book is closed on their love story.

Cute love story that takes place in Seattle. He has an apparel company, loves hiking, and needs to write his biography. She is a ghost writer that used to date him back in college. They get together again when she is assigned to write the book for him. It’s a nice love story, with plenty of scenic Washington state hikes.

I loved how self-confident Kate is in her general life, though I wish she’d felt the same about her ghost-writing. Her relationship with her grandmother is gorgeous and I’m glad this didn’t go down the familiar path of killing of an older character as a catalyst for the main protagonist's emotional growth. Her interactions with her cat are ones I am familiar with as a fellow cat owner. Her character arc is a smooth transition from hurting over transgressions in her past and shame over ghost-writing to fully accepting herself and moving forward.
Trent is a self-made person with a chip on his shoulder. He adamantly refuses to see he is like his father, simply in a different field. He seems to resent his father for not expanding his nursery business to the standard Trent has built his outdoor wear business. He has his own opinion on how his relationship with Kate ended but isn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth. His character arc involves a lot of self-reflection and realizations about his perceptions.
Their relationship is sweet and features the nostalgia of their former relationship nicely, as they progress from work colleagues to friends to lovers.
Trent’s nickname ‘Kitkat’ for Kate didn’t gel with the overall tone of their relationship in college or now. It continually threw me out of the story for a second and seemed out of place. Trent’s refusal to see his father with honest eyes for the first half of the book is frustrating when you consider Trent’s work ethic and the inspiration for it. He’s seen poverty and various lifestyles in his travels so why couldn’t he see, or at least admit, his father provided for them and gave him the initial experience in running a business.
In Other Words, Love definitely fits the Hallmark genre of romance. Sweet, sassy, and heartwarming in all the right ways. I always enjoy it when a book where food features as a plot device have a recipe included and I look forward to trying this one.
I received a free copy of In Other Words, Love in exchange for an honest review from Hallmark Publishing.

In Other Words, Love by Shirley Jump is such a sweet romance - both in terms of genre and just in general. The second-chance romance is everything you could ever want. Kate is terrified to let herself fall for Trent again. And Trent is just terrified in general.

While Kate and Trent didn't have a massive, horrible, awful breakup, it did leave Kate devastated. I'm not entirely sure how it left Trent. Possibly regretful? I wish I could have gotten a little more into his head about that.

But now they need each other. Kate needs the paycheck from ghostwriting his book. And Trent needs her to ghostwrite the book or his company could be in trouble. So they agree to keep it professional - but we all know how that turns out.

Their path back to each other was scenic and beautiful. Their connection was evident on every page. Both characters had to grow and change. Life threw them both several curveballs, and it only made them seem more real. Sometimes they rolled with the punches, and sometimes they needed some help to get there.

The side characters really stood out in this one. The snarky and unsupportive friend from college. The families that only wanted what was best for both of them. Especially Kate's grandma - she was amazing.

There was more than just a romance here. There was a finding of themselves. A reconnection to their dreams and who they really are. A very well-developed and captivating story.

In Other Words, Love is an enjoyable second chance romance.

Introverted, studious Kate fell in love with extroverted, outdoorsy Trent during their last year of college but Trent's fear of them being too different to make a lasting relationship work ultimately drove them apart. Now 15 years later, Kate is tasked with ghostwriting Trent's autobiography to help launch the IPO for his outdoor clothing company. The reunion stirs up all kinds of emotions for Kate and causing Trent to wonder if he pulled the plug on their relationship far too soon.

Shirley Jump did a really great job of building the history of Kate and Trent by sprinkling significant memories throughout the novel that way the reader never feels overwhelmed by the backstory. Their romance feels well-balanced with their personal journeys of growth and self-discovery. I especially enjoyed watching Kate learn to believe in herself and take a chance on writing her own novel.

Thank you NetGalley, Hallmark Publishing and Shirley Jump for the digital ARC.

This was a classic Hallmark type book. Cute and lighthearted with a couple twists and a nice ending.

I received an ARC copy of this novel from Netgalley for my honest review.

Synopsis:

When Kate’s agent gets her the job of writing Trent’s autobiography, she almost balks. The charismatic founder of his own outdoor clothing company dumped her when they were in college. But she needs the money.
Trent’s been so busy lately, he completely forgot he was supposed to be writing a book, and the draft is due soon. He wants Kate as the ghostwriter: she’s experienced, and she was always smart and hard-working. They can keep things professional, right?
In funny and touching ways, the project gives them a fresh perspective on the past, even prompting a road trip to Trent’s hometown that uncovers forgotten feelings. But will they both have the courage to start a new chapter in life

This novel was short and sweet.
I’m not surprised that it’s published by Hallmark Publishing because it was like watching a Hallmark movie.
“In Other Words, Love” is a second chance romance.

I loved the main characters in this book and how well they connected even after years of not seeing each other.
I loved the way it all wrapped up.

If you need a short read I suggest you give this a try. This book will be released in April.
