This is actually my second "read." I listened to an audiobook years ago, and I am hesitant to rate and review on memory alone.
Herbert West: Reanimator is probably tied for first in the Lovecraft Canon alongside Call of Cthulhu as my favorite story. I know that it's essentially a parody of Frankenstein (which I need to read) but I think it really serves the science fiction concept really well, with the horror leanings that Lovecraft is so well-known for. There is a reason why Reanimator is one of the very few tales that have made successful "mainstream" adaptations. Spoiler question below...
Am I the only one that thinks that Lovecraft hints at Herbert West using his own fluids to keep himself younger? The narrator keeps on pointing out that West never grows older throughout the 17 years, only sterner. I might be reading too much into it.

One of my top 5 favorite short stories I have ever read. It was like a mixture of Pet Semetery & Frankenstein in the style of H.P. Lovecraft.
