Un recull en què els nens són protagonistes. Semblen relats senzills i buits però agafen una profunditat descomunal. Fosquíssims, tètrics i desagradables. M'ha entusiasmat de mala manera, en vindran relectures perquè és d'aquells que a cada frase hi trobes coses. Com es pot dir tant en tan poc tros: així, sí.

This book is a collection of short stories (about a page long) about children, what's interesting about it is the way the children act in these stories and how in every single one of them they go through the most unsettling experiences. The writing style of Ana Maria Matute reminds me of Ottessa Moshfegh's, her short story collection "Homesick for another world" especially reminds me of this book.
It was written in the 50s so there is a lot of racism throughout. I reccomend checking trigger warnings before reading if you get uncomfortable easily. I loved every dingle one of the stories and I cried with a couple of them, I don't know why this book isnt getting reccomended more, it's great!

hermosa colección de microrelatos que reflejan el ambiente de la España de posguerra en lo relativo a los más pequeños, desde su perspectiva. Mis favoritos han sido:
- polvo de carbón (depresión?)
- el hijo de la lavandera
- el árbol (enfermedad?)
- la niña que no estaba en ninguna parte
- el jorobado

No me esperaba esto. Lo que había leído de la autora me había parecido bastante ñoño y no sé, supongo que creí que sería algo similar. Más que cuentos, varios de ellos me parecieron poemas. Son tétricos, oscuros, no tan infantiles, pienso. Cuentan de niños tontos, asesinos, enfermos, locos, muertos, en fin, de niños como no se suele hablar de niños, por decirlo de alguna forma. No me fascinaron, pero sí fueron una interesante sorpresa.
