I’m afraid, young Master Everhart, you were mistaken. Our precious little Nightmare is very much alive.

Archenemies follows the events of the battle against The Detonator in [b: Renegades|42771754|Supernova (Renegades, #3)|Marissa Meyer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1557159835l/42771754._SY75_.jpg|62311508]. Nova is now praised for her quick thinking and willingness to do what needs to be done in order to protect the general populace. It's along this thought that we're introduced to a new weapon (except they aren't supposed to call it that) the Renegade council has developed: Agent N.

The book was slow to pick up but had things I liked about it:
- Reduced cheesy superhero lines (thank goodness)
- Morality of Agent N and its use
- The push/pull of Nova's original purpose and the home she's found with friends
- Adrian's art room (swoon)
- The family moment with Max (my heart)
- Nova embracing Nightmare again! More villainy!
- Dona! Oh, snap!
- The resulting battle against Frost and Co. (totally deserved)
- Max going all Renegade on Nova's butt (go Max!)

There were also things I didn't like:
- This book was unnecessarily sappy; the whole thing was a litany of Nova pretending to flirt with Adrian while actually just flirting with him
- I find it less convincing that she will ultimately betray the people she's become so close to because they weren't there to save her parents...her original reason for wanting to take them down now seems weak and flat in comparison; why isn't this part of her character arc???
- OP tattoo much???
- I want Nightmare! I want angst of friend vs friend vs family! I want deep feels that aren't gonna happen so long as she's still a Renegade so why isn't her cover blown yet? UGH!

Meyer's better have a mind blowing conclusion or I'm going to kick something.

Sometimes Nova felt like the Renegades of the past had more in common with the Anarchists than anyone dared to admit.

Recommended for fans of the first book that don't mind more of a romantic angle.

I literally had to drag myself through this book. Nothing happens. There was 2 fights. And the renegades made a weapon that can take away everyone’s powers. the only interesting part of this book is the last 60 pages.
I really wanted to like this book because I love Marissa Meyers lunar chronicles but I feel as though she forgot how to write a book....
these are going back to the store.. I never want to read them again!

The story is getting better.

My favourite part was a conversation between Nova and Wonder Boy.

This book has the perfect amount of romance for an sci-fi book, and it's well presented.

I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook, and I can't wait for the next one 💜

4.5 Stars.
This was a fun read, and perfect for listening to on audio while I packed to move out of my dorm. The voice actors’ performances were excellent, and the story had the fast-pace and twisting turns for which Marissa Meyer is known. A light read, good for the start of summer.
