I loved this book. It’s about assisted/accompanied suicide and Alzheimer’s, but really it’s a love story. It gives you a vibrant understanding of the author’s relationship with her husband that is much more complex and vivid than most love stories I’ve read. Of course it’s also unbelievably sad, but also fascinating to learn about their experience. I’m so glad they were able to choose what was best for their family. Ultimately her description of her husband’s death was comforting. It’s a death that most of us don’t even think is really possible.

This one was a really tough read for me. The author’s husband is diagnosed with Alzheimer's and decides to travel to Switzerland where he is allowed to choose to end his life. The book is a memoir of the end of their time together, their last trip together, and the end of his life. This book was heartbreaking but written beautifully.

Had to read this after hearing an excerpt of it on This American Life Ep. 779 End of Earth.

Such a sad circumstance that we all hope we never have to live through. So well written and expressed. I feeo weird about rating this, but I'll give 5 stars for how captivating yet calm this book was.
