Nerdy college student gets caught up in a battle between two hi-tech werewolf packs. Super great premise and for the most part, Mia was believable new adult heroine with not to much angsty monologue. As the tormented hero, Lucas was more alpha-hole than hero, but the plot and action are solid.

I thought shifter romances were supposed to be sweet?! Anyway the love interest had lost his soulmate and is nowhere ready to date ( mate) again but he knows he's attracted to Mia, the protagonist and sleeps with her. She falls in love so quickly. Like girl you don't even know anything about him except his tragic past.
There was Colin, an amazing guy, who's not broken, treats her right and even understands consent but she refuses him but telling him she loves the love interest. I love Colin.
Mia had nothing going on for her and she was quite dull and uninteresting. This book was not for me.

It was actually good... I'm not giving it 5 stars because I don't like how defenseless women are in this universe. Biologically so. There's no way for them to overcome that, and the men don't have the same weakness. The mating, for them, is fairly reversible. If she dies, no big deal, let's get another mate. For the women, though, if their mate dies, they die. Because she is bonded to him, but not the other way around. That brings about a huge power difference, which, like I said, can't be overcome by the women. No amount of training, self assurance, independence, or inner strenght is going to change the fact he's infinitely more powerful than her. Is it true love when he can actually order her to love him, and she's helpless to obey? Not that the MMC does that, but seems to be the only one that doesn't put pressure on the FMC to submit, and really leaves the decision to her. Yet, when the evil guy forces her to submit, her mind was completely wiped, she actually fought against leaving this bastard. I've read other series with sucha power imbalance, and they always end up coming out as rapey, and very abusive. Not the case here, but I won't continue the series because it's bound to happen sooner or later, and I better leave this with a high note.

Recommended for all fans of hot shifter romances.

Excellent beginning to a new shifter romance series. I really liked the author’s take on shifters. Her details about the unique characteristics of shifters and their primal/instinctive nature make this wolf world much more interesting than most of this genre. It was good enough that I plan to buy and read the next in the series.

Wow. Amazing from start to finish read it in one sitting. Page turning at its best.
Female did do my head by pining over male but I like strong females that don’t lie down and take any s... from any one.

Mia is about to start her new job as an intern but she shadows with a job bartending in a place that is filled with shifters. Mia is a shifter but it has kept it hidden. When Mia gets in a bit of trouble she finds herself being protected by Lucas. Not in her wildest dreams did she think Lucas would be her new boss. The chemistry is there but Lucas wont claim Mia after losing his mate. He is down on himself and can't seem to get out of his own head, but a threat still surrounds Mia and Lucas finds he wants to be the only one to protect her and perhaps claim her.

I liked this but I did find that Lucas drained me a bit. I had a hard time wondering why Mia would still want him when he was a jerk most of the time. Once he does redeem himself it all falls into place though. Good start to a new series..
