It's thrilling and sweet at the same time and I'm very late to this party but I wanted to say: I loved it!

It's my kind of book, you get your angst, but you also get your fluffy stuff and knowing that this was a debut impressed me even more. I loved it all, from beginning to end, but I gotta say, although the second part delivered what I usually like in books, closure, the first half was my favourite. It kept me on my toes, lol. I need to check it out, but this is one of the stories I'd love a follow up on the characters.

Disclaimer - I'm adding just about every book I read in 2016 to Goodreads in December. I probably read this in... March.

I read a ton of lesbian romance novels on Kindle Unlimited this year. I have no idea why. All of them were of decidedly average quality, and most of them mesh together in my memory. I had to re-read the summary description of the plot to remember which one this is.

It's a classic 'opposites attract' + 'trapped together in a cold place' setup that might as well be straight out of... if I had to guess, Criminal Minds fanfiction, remixed and remastered with new names and hairstyles and backstories for original fiction.

If you're into this kind of thing, it's a good fast read. Medium on the angst-o-meter, medium-low on the steaminess. I personally think there should be more lesbian romance in general (the more "harlequin" the better) so I would recommend it to anyone into this genre, but to no one whose interests are outside of this genre. It's no lesbian Wuthering Heights or lesbian The Notebook. Which, by the way, someone should totally write.

I’m mostly giving five stars in hopes of help raising the average because to be honest, for a debut this was really good. I didn’t like the way they jumped into “I love you” so fast or how they just forgave and forgot and a little more fluff after they got rescued wouldn’t have been bad but this was good. For a debut in 2012!

4 stars. I read this in the matter of a few hours because once I started it I could not put my kindle down. I was absolutely hooked from page one. It’s a survival romance with enemies to lovers and it was so entertaining.

I really enjoyed the characters and their romance. Alex is an absolute bad ass. I adore her. After the crash she takes charge and does everything in her power to keep a seriously ill Maggie alive. She’s resilient and selfless and loving. Maggie I had to honestly come around to. She was a bit too abrasive for me at first but I ended up really loving her as well. She was in love with Alex but was afraid of what that meant since she herself was straight. I really liked seeing her thoughts and how conflicted that made her. I loved that once she admitted her feelings to Alex that she was all in so there was no unnecessary drama from that. Their chemistry was great and that epilogue was the cutest damn thing ever.

Besides the romance this was great and intense. The crash itself had me absolutely riddled with anxiety. It was nerve wracking. The writing was really good and I think Gardner did a great job with the tone and atmosphere of the story. It’s also paced really well. I have other books by Gardner on my kindle and I’m even more excited to get to them now. This was a hit for me.

Exactly what it says on the tin. The sex scenes are wonderfully done, though I must say that the religious additions to the narrative felt a little ham-handed at times and made me feel a bit alienated, but I imagine that that would probably be a plus for some readers.
