originally started as a required reading for one of my classes, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. I know the writing falls flat for some, but I found myself enjoying it anyway. I enjoyed reading about all of these wonderful women, and I wish their names were more well-known. a great non-fiction read.

review to come later, probably- but will also say I appreciated end note citations here (by page number, not numbered in text, and with specific reading lists at the end as well to hear these women in their own voices)

This was a suggestion from the Twitterverse!
If you've enjoyed Julia Child or Anthony Bourdain, you've got to add this collection of seven women who changed American tastes despite all odds (and sometimes disability) and the very white food establishment.
