I hope this book stands the test of time, if civilization is lucky enough to live to a time where an android and AI can be a romantic partner. If you like this book, give Detroit Become Human the video game a try!

-4/19 edit: i can't stop thinking about this book so I'm giving it a 5 and definitely already want to re-read it. My partner and I read this together, and it makes it special for me.

I did not expect this book to hit so close to home for me. I picked it up because Im a fan of speculative fiction about AI and the blurb reference Fruits Basket which is one of my favourite series. This book was a very cathartic read for me and I loved the contemplative, hopeful vibe of it. The setting and character design were gorgeously rendered as well; it’s the kind of art that makes me want to draw. Will definitely be looking out for more of Wendy Xu’s work in the future.

New planet, new job, new me - right? Working for your idol isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, but her hunky AI companion has certainly sparked your interest! Clem is a smart cookie and cares about how her AI SENA is treated, so she takes a special interest in why Kye is glitching.
