"When there's people around that we don't trust, we let them think we're the kinds of people who are allowed to exist."
"She didn't know how to get it—but she had a feeling that if she stuck with the Librarians for long enough, she might be able to figure it out. How to feast instead of starving... How to like the person who she was instead of fighting it."
Lesbian, spy librarians in the wild west? Um, sign me up. This was such a fun, quick read. Yet it still had a lot of heart and managed to pack a lot of punch. There was multiple LGBTQ+ identities represented, mainly lesbian and non-binary. I genuinely felt like this novella married the social commentary of the dystopian genre with the grittiness of the western genre. I will definitely be seeking out more from this author.
