A quick story with lovable characters and a satisfying ending. As a man, I enjoyed the way this book portrays gender dynamics from a perspective that I’ll never have. As a queer person, I loved the way this book portrayed with queer identity and queer communities.

Oh boy, what a ride! I'm used to a slow start, but this one just started full speed, no excuses taken! I don't have much to comment, just that it was a page-turner that never slowed down, even in the times that there wasn't something super chaotic happening. I really enjoyed how diverse the cast was, from wlw couples to ppl outside the binary (Cye my beloved) and even non-monogamous folks! As someone who is both the three (tho I am also aroace, so platonic love for me), I loved seeing it haha It never felt a tiny bit forced, maybe because of the way it works with the plot and the way characters are much more than their labels!
The only negative bit (and the reason I gave it a 4.5/5 and not a full note) is that it ended in a way that works way too well for a sequel when there isn't one... and I wanna read it!! >:'( Hmph!

Save a horse, ride a lesbian!

Does a little too much for a book that's way too short. Despite this its very fun. Would I reread it? No. But I did have fun!

I enjoyed the read, but kind of wished it had more adventure if it was going to be an adventure novel, or more romance if it was going to be a romance. As it is it hits very lightly on both. Myself, I think in this world of dystopian wild west with queer librarians saving everybody, I think Id' opt for more adventure. Still, I love the heartwarming realness of the character coming out to herself, and coming to understand that she's not a burden on society.

I will preface this by saying that I don't love comparing books in a negative way to other books - but I was hoping to like this more than I liked Outlawed, and I did. It's just the right length, I think, and I'm glad that the author didn't succumb to the pressure of making it longer just because (even though I want more out of this world!). I liked that nothing felt like it was hitting me over the head. More queer speculative westerns, please!

(Incomplete CWs logged because I'm writing the review way later)

This novella is a futuristic take on Westerns with this blurb hook, “queer librarian spies on horseback trying to do the right thing” – obviously I’m interested! It’s short and sweet and while the story is nicely contained, I wouldn’t say no to a whole series about these characters.

I really enjoyed the story! I wish the love story hadn’t been made so clear from the start (more longing, make me wonder if it would happen!) and that the political implications were slightly less direct. The author could have trusted the readers a bit more with understanding the allegory
