this was good! it had a nice fairy tale feel and the way the magic worked was pretty cool

i have a huge gripe not with the book but with the map it is so inaccurate. first of all north is not labelled on the maps compass so we kind of assume north is up. but this would put dunnin west of the mountains and there's a point where àine says dunnin is east. also the river doesn't go to the sea, at least in the bit of the map that we are shown :/ come on map illustrator!!

also this is not a complaint but just something I noticed while reading this book: i think kelly barnhill has a tendency to not name her characters. there's 4 characters with names in this plus sister witch if you count that as a name and in the crane husband i think michael was the only one with a name. not at all a complaint (it's completely understandable, and it adds to the fairy tale vibe) just like. something i found interesting
