I liked the art style and illustrations. But I found the story dull, preachy, and honestly kind of nonsensical. This mom is working in a cabin in the woods on a rainy day and takes away her kid's videogame and tells them to go play outside in the rain all day instead? It felt kind of aimless and just very "videogames are bad."

3.5/5 rating is mostly for the illustrations, which are beautiful. the story was good, but nothing too special. also the text is hard to read in some places because of the dark colors used for the illustrations.

I really fell in love with the artwork in this one. The shapes, colors, and textures are mesmerizing. I think that the story was really forced forward (as far as how to get the game out of the equation), but it was still quite sweet.

Every day can be a magical day! Perfect for K, grade 1-2. Or even grade 3, use it to kick-start imagination for writing.

A lovely and imaginative book with the perfect dark and wet rainy day color pallette.

Part of the genius of this book is that it never gives the protagonist a name or a gender, and the illustrations are ambiguous enough that it might be about either. So any child can read it and imagine it is about them. I love the illustrations. They’re gorgeous!
