Very cute book about a kid with lots of stuff going on in her family that she only partially understands. I listened to the audio and the narrator was an older woman, an interesting choice for a middle grade book but it really worked.

My goodness, this author! All hail. I was worried when I read some of the reviews from trusted people I follow on socials. But it was fantastic. Yes it is a slower paced novel that focuses entirely on character. It read like a memory, like a relative telling you a story and you can see the flashbacks in your mind. It’s been described as a balm to the soul and I wholeheartedly agree. I needed this. In this broken world full of hate and heartache, I needed this beautiful love story of family and loss and hope.
