‘City of Sin’ shows the seedy side of Sydney in a compelling and hard-hitting new series from Sean O’Leary. It was the premise of an Aboriginal cop that drew me into this story as it wasn't something I had read before but before long it was the plot that had me hooked! Its noir aspects, great feel of location and characters that intrigued me made this a great read.

Rhia is a sex worker and when a customer dies literally on top of her, she has to go into hiding as people are hunting her down. She has the police chasing her as well as the New Light church as she took a USB stick from the man and the information on it could bring the church down! Indigenous investigator Carter ‘Cash’ Thompson from the Prosecutor's Office is also searching but he is the only one who cares about her and her safety. Who will find her first?

Cash is interesting all right and I feel that he will develop into a nuanced character as the series progresses as I am sure there is a lot of background material that could be mined for future books! Rhia was my favourite though, you couldn't help but root for her and her family!

I really like the artwork on the cover as it fits with the noir aspects and it's different from the norm!

Let me know if you pick this one up!
