A very impressive sequel, definitely not suffering too much from the shadow of the original. Dynamic and driven characters (well, one in particular) and their various roles colour in the lines of a society sketched by The Handmaid's Tale – well worth the read for fans of the original (and if you haven't read The Handmaid's Tale, what's that rock you've been living under like?)

I adore Atwood, and I admire the scope of compelling world-building she's accomplished, but I feel this novel is a departure from her usual originality and nuance. The characters in The Testaments fell flat to me, and the plot was fairly predictable. This certainly isn't to say I still didn't thoroughly enjoy this read; I'm too invested in the overarching HMT narrative! Is this how Star Wars die-hards feel about the Last Jedi?

Such an amazing and wonderful way this story goes. Reading about the next part of the story was just everything I had hoped for it felt like.

Will think about it later but I just find this world so impactful and thoughtful.

Stakes were interesting. Took me too long to understand who was who and had to look up a quick explanation because I thought everyone was Lydia at different point in her life for a bit.

I liked Handmaid’s Tale much better, but the follow up was still great.
