Well, for starters, this was definitely a hard book to read in 2020. Not just because it's about a pandemic outbreak, but specifically because it's about the public reaction to it and the willingness of so many to let people die for the sake of politics. And it's handled so believably that it was scary.
Beyond that, I loved the dynamic of the three sisters. Their complex relationships, the history we only ever see bits and pieces of, are fantastic.
The story itself takes a bit of a backseat to the message and the themes. It's less of a plot and more a series of moments in time. And it's really well done! I would say, the ending was a little too abrupt. I could have enjoyed another 100 or more pages!
