I found this collection to be of higher quality than other such collections; Brin's "Shoresteading", Phyllis and Jake Eisenstein's "Von Neumann's Bug" and Nye's "Virtually, A Cat" are among the best, with Vinge's "A Preliminary Assessment of the Drake Equation Being an Excerpt from the Memoirs of Star Captain Y.-T. Lee", and Resnick's "On Safari" quite enjoyable as well. Nearly all of the tales I would rate as better-than-most.

Stories written in the style of Frederik Pohl. Includes comments by the various authors about their personal involvement with a man who was at the beginning of the science fiction genre.

About half of the stories are outstanding!

Meh. No less mediocre than the majority of SF anthologies. I have never been particularly worshipful of [a:Frederik Pohl|22996|Frederik Pohl|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1226540337p2/22996.jpg] - in fact, I don't believe I've ever read one of his novels, just come across his shorter fiction over the years. Due to this, I'm sure I failed to grasp the stylistic tributes being paid to him in this collection. I certainly found the random homages and remembrances that were interspersed between stories to be totally unnecessary. Perhaps that's just me.

This is a collection of stories, poems and essays celebrating the 90th birthday of Frederik Pohl, which was in 2009 (though the book was not published until 2010). Only a couple of them are really good, Haldeman's "Sleeping Dogs" which takes a veteran back to the site of conflict with a memorable twist, and Cory Doctorow's "Chicken Little" which links to both The Space Merchants and Gulliver's Travels. There's also the last Stainless Steel Rat story by Harry Harrison, and late stories by Brian Aldiss and Sherri S Tepper. It's not quite as mind-blowing a collection as I would have liked, given Pohl's significance and the rank of the authors involved, but it's still pretty good.

This is a very enjoyable homage to a very talented SF writer, by many other talented SF writers. Each story was so different, yet all were very human (if you'll excuse my earth-centricity). Some of my favourites are Chicken Little by Cory Doctorow for its insight, On Safari by Mike Resnick for its humour, and I am very much looking forward to the finished novel Tales from the Spaceship Geoffrey by James Gunn from which 4 chapters were pulled for this anthology.
