I have found that I really like a lot of the fantasy/sci fi from Spain. I don't believe that this book has been translated, but either way Spanish literature (in my experience) is creative, unique, and lots of fun.

The Supernatural Enhancements is told in diary entries, letters, telegrams, and camera footage. A format that I usually can't stand in films. For some reason I liked it in this book. The author still manages to create interesting and likable characters. It was a great way to tell this story in particular, but explaining why would spoil the story.

There is a ghost, a secret society, interesting artifacts, and thieves! I loved the ending.

Absolutely loved it! (I actually wanted to give it 4.5 stars, but that's not an option here so I went ahead and give it a 5 :P )
I loved how this novel breaks the everyday pattern of storytelling by including transcripts, journals entries and whatnot. The characters are neat too and even though some parts did bother me because it felt to me like they dragged a bit (I've read a looot of paranormal novels so I'm used to them), I still got surprised with the ending... and that's not easily done!!
So, congrats to the writer! When's book 2 coming out? ^_^

This story is as much of an enigma as the coded messages within it.

I was so confused for a while, but in the best way, desperately wanting to solve the mystery before the characters did.

And the presentation of the book is just *chef’s kiss*, told through diary entries, audio recordings, article excerpts and more, it kept the story flowing in such a brilliant way (and I must admit, I’m a big fan of stories told in unconventional ways).

If you’re in the mood for an inventive thriller, I can highly recommend it.

Not the book for me. I struggled to get through this, I wanted to love it. I couldn’t like it no matter how hard I tried. It wasn’t the story it was the format. The story is told through diary entries, notes, letters, video feeds, codes, histories and others. I just couldn’t stay interested, it jumped around to much for this reader. I expected paranormal fantasy, what I got was more of a mystery, deciphering codes, pages on this subject bored me to sleep several nights while trying to slip through it. I stayed with it, I wanted to find the love, I did not. Not my taste in reading.

A bit disappointed. There was a comparison with House of Leaves which was so mysterious and intriguing that I was hoping for something similar. Instead I got a sort of screenplay-style Scooby Doo episode that failed to grab and hold my interest.
