The Gary Stu sidestory keeps going as the freshly promoted bigger general marches from one amazing, fantasti,c and glorious victory to another. Yes, this character annoys me to no end in its one-dimensionality. The only positive thing I can think of is that at least we got rid of Ravill Pryde the half-Wolf .
This novel tells the Clan Jade Falcon intrusion story that was referenced in a handful of lines in Imminent Crisis. What begins here also ends here, apart from Adam Steiner changing his mind about his distant cousin.
Clanners behave occasionally in an unClanlike way, they also don't know how many ASF are in a Point, which was a bit silly, in a bit told from a Clanner viewpoint. Someone forgot to lore-check who actually blew up the explosives in the Great Gash, so here it's said it was done by the Falcon Guards. Silly nitpicking, I know, but as I loathe the main character, the tiniest details become much more bothersome.
On a potential future re-read of the BT storyline this is an easy skip. If anything important happens, it'll be referred to in a different novel anyway.

Moderate: Death, Religious bigotry, War, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Blood, Fire/Fire injury
As the civil war rages across the Inner Sphere, the Jade Falcons start their own land grab as a means of testing new troops.
Davion & Steiner forces have to work together to block this. The Lyrans send Adam Steiner and Victor Davion send Archer Christifori.
There were lots of familiar "faces" in this book, both from the Inner Sphere and the Clans, and it was good to see how they interacted.
As usual, the Steiner forces were blinded by their hatred/distrust of anything Davion to their disadvantage, and both forces seemed to get their share of lucky breaks against the Flacons.
Lots of mech action, nothing too unexpected in terms of how people act/react and the civil war is still going on...
