This anthology of short mystery stories was collected by Lee Child and includes a very short piece at the end by the editor. Each of the stories is about punishing others for something they had done, "vengeance." One of my favorite pieces is the first one, "The Fourteen Juror," about a rouge judge and the cop who schemes to bring him down. Another favorite is, "Even a Blind Man," about a self-described old blind guy with his blind dog who travels across the country to help a grand-daughter he has never met.

Several of the stories are truly creepy, but in most the good guy wins and you cheer for him. And I was happy to be introduced to several excellent writers about whom I had never heard before, including Twist Phelan and Darrell James who wrote my two favorite pieces. I will definitely look for their novels.
