I remember reading the Boxcar Children at 5th grade when I first arrived here in America. I didn't realize then it was set in the early 1900s, until I reread them for my students.

Good adaptation! I loved the original books and I think this graphic novel does the original story justice.

While I was glad to see this popular series turned into a grpahic novel, I got the feeling as I was reading that this version was missing a lot of the detail, and that perhaps some of the magic of the writing got lost in translation.

As a graphic novel, this story feels very minimal. It seems like the children lived in the boxcar for a very short time and like a lot of details were skipped over. Maybe there isn’t much to the novel and I just remember it being more, but the adaptation felt very basic.

I was a big fan of The Boxcar Children when I was a kid but I haven't read them for over two decades now. I checked out the graphic novel to revisit my childhood favorites and I can't understand why I was so addicted to them. The story doesn't make sense to me at all. Perhaps it did when I was a child.

Such a blast from the past! I absolutely ADORED The Boxcar Children in my early elementary school days -- so finding the graphic novel of the first book was AMAZING -- of course!!!

I try to read this book to my class every Spring and when I saw there was a graphic novel, I had to check it out. It was ok. It hit the main plot points, but the characters were all one dimensional. None of the humor and pathos survived. I’d rather see a child experience the Box Car Children as a read aloud or an early independent chapter book.
