Great read by Tiffany Clare. I've always enjoyed the historicals that take place outside of England because you still get the same grace that comes with living in the upper echelons of society but the opportunity for an adventure not normally found in England. I enjoyed how Griffin and Elena came together after so many years apart. I loved seeing how Elena grew into her own person while facing such insurmountable options. I did think that the story slowed down in the middle some but picked back up by the end. Otherwise a great read and I'm excited to find a new author!

I really enjoyed the originality of this story and the descriptive feeling of the book.

Grading more harshly than this book deserves but in proportion to how much I disliked it as a romance. Interesting as historical fiction and/or a character study of a woman who emerges from an ordeal as a fundamentally different person. Different customs, different values, different body, different name— all accrued under conditions of trauma and coercion and all retained after she “leaves.” This book left me unsettled and depressed and the body mod stuff was vaguely triggering (though that’s my own issue, I realize). When I finish a romance novel thinking the heroine would have been happier remaining in the harem, and hoping that she never gives birth to a daughter, I have to say it has failed pretty spectacularly in its genre.

Meh... I both liked and disliked this book. The time line was jumpy and a bit hard to follow. whats more it didn't come off feeling like a romance. I usually enjoy harem books but then this one was different in that the girls in the harem weren't just sleeping with one man, but being auctioned off to spend months at a time with another. It was just weird. And then there was the relationship between Griffin and Elena which didn't really seem like a relationship at all. So again just weird, in the end 2 stars?

The Surrender of a Lady is a provocative read. Seductively entertaining as Jinan evolves into a sensual woman. I thought this was a refreshingly new story, a unique read that will have readers begging for more.

This is the first Tiffany Clare book I've read and I think I may read another, but I'm not going to go and search for the next one. In other words I enjoyed the book but not immensely. The plot was a bit hit and miss, especially at the beginning as it kept jumping between five years. Other than that, it was a pleasant read and different to any other historical romance I've read.
