This follows the story of Timothy Zahn's novel completely but I just don't like art much.
Why did they NEVER show Mara's hair? At first I didn't even know who she was.
I definitely didn't mind that Leia was in her underwear in her room at night but it seemed weird that she went to talk to Khabarakh that way.

I think that the story was fine. The format was off. Missing too many details that I couldn't fill in from the 6 movies. Maybe I would have been better off reading some of the EU books first? I'll try to read the novel sometime.

Didn't like enough to continue with "Dark Force Rising" (part 2) or "The Last Command" (part 3). Hopefully Zahn's books are better.

Luke is finally growing up! So far so good, Thrawn has proved to be a worthy adversary.

I had originally planned to re-read the book upon which this graphic novel is based. In the end, I decided to return to the story, but experience it in a new medium. I'm glad I did. It's an excellent recapitulation of Zahn's now classic novel. By modern standards, the art is a little dated and lacks some of the artistry graphic novels and comics are now capable of. That's the only reason this text missed a four star rating.

I almost gave it one star for how peepaw Thrawn is drawn but the yslamiri made me feel generous. Overall all though, really didn’t like the art style. It was an accurate adaptation of the book but I really don’t think it stands on its own as a graphic novel. There was so much text that sometimes it felt hard to read. And I understand that this is most likely a difference in preferences and styles in time, but nah. Not about it.

Yes, I detracted a full star from the rest of the series because no, it was actually not necessary at all to have multiple pages of Leia in nothing but her underwear. Believe it or not, women - especially when pregnant, as Leia is - tend to choose comfort over sex appeal in their pajamas.

Starts off a little slow, I don’t know how different it is from the Novel, but I’m looking forward to getting into the Original Canon

Same great story as Zahn's novel, and it's well scripted through six issues, which is an impressive abridgment. However, I really didn't care for the artwork. Perhaps I've been spoiled by more recent (ie Marvel) Star Wars comics, especially Salvador Larroca's superb work in the Darth Vader series, but I expected more detailed art in a Star Wars comic. After all, the aesthetic of that universe is one of its primary attractions, and I don't think Vatine's works lives up it.

I read Zahn's novel a long time ago, and I wanted to refresh it, without spending much time on it, and this comic was the perfect way to do that. I can see how it could be confusing to someone who didn't read the book. Many scenecs were taken out or abridged. They could have done a longer adaptation.
