Oh wow! I mean WOW!

I thought I was going to read a nice romance, but instead I was gifted a great story that could live for itself with our without a romantic plot [and what was given to us was good enough btw].

So it was that good to me.

Claire and JJ are rock solid and some more, but tbh atm I'm more itching to know about Cora and Avery's shit and ofc what's coming next. I'm honestly thrilled.

The only but I'd say here is for those "paranoid" with internet security, I do think depending on how much you're deep worried about this stuff the more this book may trigger you. Other than that, a great reading will be.

I liked [b:The Miracle Girl|27798504|The Miracle Girl|T.B. Markinson|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1447232935s/27798504.jpg|45645441], and I liked The Fall Girl just as much, but not for the same reasons. First of all, I'd read the first but I listened to the second one, and the narrator did a great job. Also, as a former journalist, I was very interested in the way the job was described, with all that's great about it but also all that's not so great (and sometimes really bad). The ending was quite open, so I really hope there's a third book coming.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did [b:The Miracle Girl|27798504|The Miracle Girl (The Miracle Girl #1)|T.B. Markinson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1447232935l/27798504._SY75_.jpg|45645441]. I think the author tried to thread something in between a mystery and a romance and, to me, missed some of the key desires I have as a reader of both genres: on the romance side, I suspect it's a challenge when you're taking an existing couple to
Spoilertheir wedding day
, but it's a bigger challenge when one of the couple have to keep secrets (legitimately, because of her job), even though it's something that
Spoilerher romantic partner would want to know (because it involves the secret-keeper's ex)
.

Communication is such a key part of a loving relationship that, when I see romance plots that depend on a lack of communication, I always feel viscerally uncomfortable; when that happens with an established couple, I found it almost unbearable. Even worse, I don't know that I ended up understanding why one of them continued with
Spoilerthe wedding
, after all that happened in the book.

And the mystery ends up the same way: for something that caused such problems for one of the main characters, surprisingly little of it gets solved. Even worse, the parts of it left unsolved are some of the parts that most affect that character.

I really respect the author and have joined others of her books, but I kind of wish I'd given in to the temptation to DNF this book halfway through, but The Fall Girl held my interest (though not my affection).

I felt sorry for JJ having to be used in such a way. I give her credit for not going back to her old habits. Her and Claire are growing their family and are struggling with their jobs. I like that they are still so hot for each other. This story takes many twists and turns that kept me wondering. I think TJ Richards did a wonderful job with the narration. The story was very exciting and I loved it.
