The first one was good and fun; this one was just depressing. By the end of this book, I was starting to agree with Genevieve's perception of Lara Jean, which nobody else sees for some reason. I think Lara Jean is LEARNING to be real, but definitely isn't there yet, and I feel like the people around her have accepted themselves for who they are (except maybe Margot and Josh, but who knows).

Also, I could have SWORN that Genevieve told Lara Jean that she saw her and Peter kissing (when they were younger) in the first book, but she acts fucking surprised to hear it at the END of the book AGAIN. Did she just randomly forget the reason her ex-best friend hates her?

I guess I'll read the third one, but I feel like I would have been MUCH happier with the first book as a standalone. The ending felt super rushed after dragging out a bunch of stuff I didn't really care about.

Ugh these books are the cutest. They just create such great aesthetics in my head and I need to read the last book right nowww. Oh and it inspired me to bake cookies, so extra points for Jenny Han.

this one took too long to get going, but it was still fun. john ambrose mclaren was so good but also so not real, bless his 40s get-up wearing heart. i do like lara jean and peter even though they dont rly fit together... i love how circumstances shaped them 👌🏻 its legit

okay so i stayed up until almost 2am to finish re reading this book so here are my thoughts:
i hated the ps i still love you movie, i was so irritated that they removed the assassin subplot from the movie but now i understand why, in my previous review i talked about how childish the characters seemed childish compared to the movie, and now that i’ve re read the first book it makes sense why they didn’t add the subplot bc it just felt too childish for the movie if that makes sense. i’ve honestly come to notice that book peter and movie peter are completely different. movie peter is sweet while book peter is selfish and not really understanding (which makes sense considering the books seem to make the characters feel younger), the whole thing with peter comforting gen just didn’t make any sense to me, he is not a therapist!! and don’t get me wrong his explanation did make sense but it was the complete disregard for lara jeans feelings that got me. it is not normal to be friends with your ex and especially and ex that has terrorized your gf for years and just recently with the video, i honestly forgot how big of a deal the video was in this book bc i don’t know if i could forgive that. i still love peter though, ill always have a soft spot for him but damn lara jean didn’t deserve any of that. now the star of the show, john ambrose mclaren, i loved him, i think he is amazing but hear too similar to lara jean to be with lara jean if that makes sense, like he is her in boy form while peter is the exact opposite, i can’t decide if i still like this better than the first book but i did really appreciate this book bc it was less about peter and more about the other subplots imo
