Allen Weiss’s Telescope is an evocative collection of linked stories about growing up Jewish in Montreal in the 60s and 70s. The details—CFCF TV, Yangtze’s restaurant, the October Crisis—create a wonderful sense of time and place, and his narrator’s naive paradings of his adolescent certainties are deliciously cringe-inducing.

An interesting set of stories with interesting characters, especially the main character Lawrence. I found perspectives mostly interesting. I also learned a bit about Montreal and how it was there in the 1960s.
