A beautiful update on the Medieval trope of Danse Macabre, the Dance of Death. Meconis brilliantly (and somewhat cheekily) creates modern adaptations of this classic Western momento mori. As with all of Meconis' work, it is solidly grounded in historical fact, and she provides reprints from the famous "Heidelberger Totentanz"--the classic Danse Macabre woodcuts which are most well-known today--along with some historical information and context for the prints.
