A glimpse into the life of a young man with no prospects in the 60s Singapore. The only big fault with it is that it is too short to fully live out it's potential.

"Well, some can't sing, some can't paint, some can't draw, some can't love, some can't live... We all have our drawbacks, he philosophized."

This is a fascinating book, while set in 1960s Singapore, explores many issues that are still relevant today. Always interesting how the world moves on, but the fundamental issues of life stay the same. This book also provides an insight into famous places of Singapore past, a cultural tour and has given me impotence to explore some of these older areas.
