Another story centered around Jack. I’m starting to feel like Seanan may have a favorite. Lol. I stil enjoyed it tho. =) It was a cute and mysterious look into Jack’s life with Dr Bleak. Also some intriguing insight into Dr Bleak.

It is always a treat to be back in the worlds of the Wayward Children. This story follows Dr. Bleak, Jack's mentor in the Moors, as he meets Jack and then as Jack meets Alexis for the first time. Not my favorite short story of hers but worth the read.

My rating system
1 - Did not enjoy
2 - Not irredeemable but has too many flaws to say I enjoyed
3 - Enjoyed it
4 - Great book but didn't love it
5 - Amazing book

Enjoyable and sweet, yet ultimately nothing new in the way of the Walcott twins arc. I lowkey feel like McGuire is just rehashing the same details about Jack each time we see her in these books? But this one at least had some pretty moments (and I like Alexis) so it's worth reading if you really want to flesh out your whole "Wayward Children" experience.

Short stories are always too short. However, I love how these short stories really add depth and layers to the stories we already know. The Moors might be my favorite world in this entire series (although I would never want to live there myself) and returning for whatever story the author wants to tell is always a pleasure. This story wasn't an exception. I loved how small gaps were filled, how details were added and how I'm now only looking forward to the eighth book in the series even more!
