Great ending!!

In this, the second book in the series, hard decisions needed to be made and Easton feels hurt and rejected. Not only has his rehab been destroyed other lies and deceptions come to light. Can the love he has with Scout give him the answers and reassurances that he needs. Again, this story had my emotions running. There is more to this series than just baseball and I highly recommend the entire series.

The Catch by K. Bromberg

Narrated by Andi Arndt and Joe Arden

Contemporary Sports Romance. Second in a duet. Does NOT Stand Alone

The Catch is the second in K. Bromberg’s Player duet, and you must read The Player first. You WON’T regret it. I am not a sports romance fan for the most part. I also wasn’t aware when I read The Player that this was a duet. With my lack of memory, I was very concerned I wouldn’t remember enough to get back into the second book, so I reread the last chapter so the cliffhanger was fresh in my mind, and it was a doozy! I felt after the first book that the story could have easily wrapped up in another 50-100 pages. I am SO GLAD it didn’t. In fact, I loved The Catch even more than The Player. It had SO MUCH MORE story to tell. Now I wish there was even more!

While The Player was more Scout’s story, The Catch was totally Easton’s, and he had more of a story than I ever expected. At the end of The Player, we were left with both of them realizing that they were meant to be, but then came the cliffy which brought in so many doubts and insecurities. Who do you trust? What is going on? How did this happen? Why? Poor Easton is hit with curveball after curveball. The guy can’t get a freaking break. Yet there was just something so REAL and so HUMAN about them both. They made mistakes, had doubts, screwed up, but there was never really a question of their love. These two had the magic.
"I want you. All of you. Your flaws. Your mistakes. Your achievements. Your shortcomings. Your love."

I usually don’t have trouble putting down audiobooks the way I do books, and I usually need to be doing something else while I listen, but I was still up at 5am listening to this in my bed and bawling my eyes out from bittersweet tears. I finished this book a couple of weeks ago already, and I just never felt like I could capture in words how full this book made me feel. I felt the magic of baseball. I felt the magic of the truth setting you free. I felt the love. I felt the loyalty. I felt the losses. I felt it ALL.

I usually list my likes and dislikes here, but I honestly liked everything and disliked nothing. It was an epic read that was just amazing to me.
"Clear mind. Full heart."

The Down & Dirty:

The Catch was so much more than I ever expected. While I really loved The Player, I only gave it 4.25 stars mostly because I thought it could be told in one book. I WAS WRONG. This was a duet in every sense. There was a full storyline in The Catch and SO MUCH happened. I will actually be noting on the first review that I was wrong and upping my rating. The Catch was so well written, so emotional and chock-full of surprises I couldn’t have imagined a better conclusion. I would count The Catch and now the duet as one of my 2017 favorites even though sports romances aren’t usually my thing. This couple was just so real and genuine together that I couldn’t help but fall for them.

I love these two narrators. K. Bromberg's characters are always flawed and sometimes they are so damaged you have to hold your breath, praying that they will find a way through to the other side. Easton has issues but they are not overwhelming. His mom is an alcoholic. His father was often absent but gave him the game he both loves and hates.
I loved that although there was a pretty big shit storm spinning when this book starts, it did not take the entire book to sort it out. The central characters opened to one another and they found ways to help each other.
I really liked this duet.

3.5 I didn’t like this one as much as the first. I’m not really sure why. It just felt like I was reading to finish rather than enjoy. Scout and Easton have to go through so many ups and downs in this one which gives a more realistic relationship POV. However at times it just felt like too much.

This book is really Easton centered and I think it was a bit too much…
This is well written and we follow the last part of the story.
For me it was a bit much and the MC flaws kind of annoyed me at sone point.
Too bad because I really like the first book.

K. Bromberg was right when she said that the conclusion to Scout and Easton's story would make the reader feel; that they would run the gauntlet of emotions. This was an amazing read and the ending that these characters deserved. I can't wait to see what Ms. Bromberg has in store for us next.

First Impressions
The Catch is the conclusion to this duo series and this is where things really get resolved and both characters have to face up to this reality, and find the true heroes and villains of their story. But we also get one of the most satisfying conclusions that I have ever read in a long while. The Catch actually surprised me in what we see get implemented. I also read this in multiple formats with both ebook and the audiobook. If you love audiobooks, then I can't recommend these books enough to you as it has the best narration duo ever. But The Catch is a story where we get all the reveals, hidden truths and the secrets being played out. We also see how our characters have to really face up to the reality of their situation and all the emotion and heart that is shown in this book is so powerful. The Catch is a story where we see our couple fight for each other and really implement some more honest change about themselves and coming together to honestly fight for each other. They aren't perfect, but they both strive to do what they believe is right. The Catch captivated me heart and soul!

First Line
What did I just do?

Summary
In the conclusion of the Player series, we have our characters having to face up to the truths and deceptions and making some mistakes along the way. Scout makes a mistake, a mistake which she believes is her only path to fighting for Easton. But Easton isn't going to see it that way. When Easton was deceived to sign papers that he was manipulated into signing, and now his girl, the woman who should be fighting for him, takes some action that on the surface seems like a betrayal. And now Easton and Scout have to work hard to get to where they need to be and rebuild the trust and find the truth over the deceptions which also includes the secret that the hero has been keeping from everyone. But as Scout and Easton come together to find their own path, and learn to fight for love and what they have together no matter the stakes that are involved.

What I Loved
There is so much goodness that is delivered in this book. I absolutely adored Catch. And it definitely is so much better than The Player. This is the book where we get to the solid strength of what makes this couple so powerful as a team. These two just work so well together when they are all in and have complete trust. And they have to really work hard to build that trust and keep that trust and love so strong. Its not easy because they are both surrounded by so many secrets from people that they love. And your heart just breaks especially for Easton. Because it also shows what one injury can do to someone's career and how fast it can tank. Easton goes through so much hardship because he has to face up to the truth and reality surrounding his injury and the challenges that I am sure many athletes have to face up to and how your dreams can easily be snatched away. Easton goes through his own journey here. And normally in most romances, its all about the heroine. I found it so refreshing to see that we see it being the hero's journey being the focus. Not that the heroine doesn't have her own journey and how it meshes with Easton's. But the focus is definitely Easton's path. And seeing them fight their way....together...towards their HEA was so satisfying. I just couldn't put this one down and was all in for Easton and Scout finding their own path that works so well for them. And that ENDING----I was sobbing it was so happy and poignant and good and is so epic feeling. The ending is worth just reading these two books for lol

What I Struggled With
There isn't much that I truly struggled with in this one. I do think that these two could have trusted each other just a bit more than they did.

Narration
The Narration is done by Andi Arndt and Joe Arden and I can't tell you what a fabulous job that these two did on this one. Of course, they are always so enjoyable together, but they really packed a punch with this one so much that I wish I had done the first book in audio.

Overall View
The Catch is such a wonderful story that brings together the values of family, trust and intimacy in a way that will dig deep with the reader. The ways it resonates will speak so fervently and packs a punch!

Favorite Quote(s)
Women come and go. Teams are teams. I can still play ball anywhere. But it’s not just some woman. It’s Scout. The one who gets me. And it’s not just a team. It’s the Aces. The one whose blood I’ve bled since before I was born.

Clear Mind...Full Heart

He kisses me with a passion I’ve never felt before. It’s soft and sweet but there’s so much more to it.
It’s a hello.
It’s a goodbye.
It’s an apology.
It’s a declaration.

I see the hurt in Easton's eyes. I hear his voice in my ears. "What would you do Scout?" The answer, Easton? "I'd sacrifice me to save you."

“I want to drown in you tonight, Scout. I want to forget the world, forget what’s going to happen tomorrow, and drown in everything about you, starting now.”

God, I love this woman and her rose-colored glasses.
Even at my worst, she still sees the best in me.
