Once again, I love this series. This one was tragic but I loved it.

I was close to writing off this series but decided to read this one as I’m a sucker for second chances and am glad I did. I really loved Finn, he was far from perfect but made serious progress once reconnecting with Trix. She was a bit bland but with all the drama from their backgrounds and current events that was ok, the poor woman was recovering from trauma.

The story was also interesting - yay! I’ll try out the next book.

After the last Kit Rocha book left me a little underwhelmed ( I still really enjoyed it, but I couldn't completely buy the storyline) I was looking forward to Beyond Addiction getting me back to loving the series.
Like all the books, there are times where the character voices blend together, the basic story formula is the same, and the drama unnecessary if the characters would only talk to one another, but I liked it! I liked Trix and Finn's history and wished there was a little more of that told throughout the book rather than snippets told during bouts of exposition. The flip from Finn being untrustworthy to part of the group happened a little abruptly, and as usual, there was the relationship drama, though it was done differently here which I liked. Finn didn't try to protect Trix and in the process make it seem like he was babying her or pushing her away, I think if that would have happened again it would have been too much too many times in a row. I liked the change up and the fact there wasn't an outright catalyst. It was a different sort of relationship issue and I'm glad the writers decided to add it in.
In the end, if you're reading this book, you most likely read the others in the series, and in that case, go right ahead with this one, it won't disappoint.

Now, I probably say this every single time that I read one of the Beyond books that it is my favorite. But this is by far the best one. Not only due to the fact that Kit Rocha can always get me out of my book funk but she delivers a book full of love, passion, suspense and a scorching level of heat that will melt your panties. Happy days, ladies. 4 “Remember what you promised me” Stars.

It is also very surprising for me anyway that the each book gets better and better. That the development of the Sectors as well as the dystopian world that has been created as well as the plots and twists that are included. I was really anxious that Trix would have to go through the whole drug withdrawal as well.

After reading Beyond Jealousy and coming off my Ace, Cruz and Rachel high. I didn’t want to read this one straight away to realize that it wasn’t on par with the others. This book was also very touching and emotional and had me with tears in my eyes.

Trix is originally from Sector Five, she clawed herself away from the drugs and left the one thing that meant the world to her behind. That is until she is kidnapped by Dom who was kicked out of Sector Four and the O’Kanes for abusing Trix and running to Mac Fleming the leader of Sector Five. As revenge for blowing up his illegal distilleries.

Finn has always lived in Sector Five and has been an enforcer. For the past four years he has thought Tracy aka Trix to be dead that is until he is called to Mac’s office. What made me like Finn was that he put a bullet through his head for Trix to get her back to Dallas. Fleming’s second in command Logan Beckett is bat shit crazy and a sociopath. He is married to Lili who is as numb as they come and the daughter of Mac Fleming.

I loved that the plot of the story was also based outside of Sector Four. To escape Finn went to Shipp and Ayla. They owed him a favor. Not many live out that way beyond Eden and the Sectors. I would like to see a book with Hawk he intrigues me.

Finn has played an important role throughout the series although I have only realized it till now. What with framing Sector Two for framing the leader of Sector Six.

Trix didn’t want to leave Finn back at the farm. He went back to Four and wasn’t exactly welcomed with open arms. But family does what they can and they did it for Trix to begin with. Finn and Trix get all their ugly shit out in the open and see what they really have without the past in the way. If things hadn’t gone the way they would have then they both would be dead.

“Teach me, Trix. Prove it can be beautiful instead of twisted.”

Don't get me wrong I like hot n' steamy in my books but it is nice to see a one on one couple. I like the monogamy of it.

“I want to work these pearls into you again, until you’re on the edge, just like this.”

Their passion is pure and unrestrained.

Tell me this is different,” she begged.
“I don’t have to … You can feel it. You know it in your bones. Nothing’s the same as before.”
Because he wasn’t fighting her anymore. Fighting himself. They were sober, clear-headed, free to do what they wanted - and this was it. More than anything else, more than breath.”

But that there was also the debauchery and the filthiness of all around.

“They were filthy in their own ways. Without shame and without judgement, and it was the most intoxicating fucking thing he’d ever seen. You couldn’t bottle the high that came with loving acceptance. You couldn’t buy it.
You had to earn it.”

He proved his worth for what he did for Amira/Flash and Hanna. Sector Five falls and war is inevitable.

“It’s going to be war, one way or another. Only question is who hits first. And who hits hardest“

I really want to read the next one but over 5 € for a book is too steep for me. Patience is a virtue I guess.

TW: rape, drug use
Finn spent his time in Sector Five waiting to die and not really caring about anything since Tracy died. He never expected to walk into his bosses office and find her tied to a chair and hurt, he mourned her death for four years but he doesn't even hesitate, after killing his boss his only goal now is to get her back the O'Kanes.
Trix formerly known as Tracey ran away from Sector 5 and managed to get sober and she has been embracing her life and her ability to feel, showing off the body she reclaimed since kicking the drug habit, till she's kidnapped. Trix is a much quieter heroine than all the previous ones in the series so far, but I loved that about her.
She never expected to see Finn again, both of them sober, it gives her hope they can finally be together. Trix and Finn have been to hell and back and managed to put themselves back together.

To be completely honest I wasn't really invested in the main characters, what kept this book alive for me was the politics, I loved, loved, loved the politics. To me it's like a chess game (not in the traditional sense of course) when players get knocked off the board new interesting and intriguing players take their place changing the whole dynamic of the game opening up endless possibilities. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series. I cannot wait to see where Kit Rocha takes us next.

I've been waiting a long time for Trix's story. Was not disappointed. I felt like the MC of Finn was very different from the other males paired with females and it was great to see him go through his own journey and redemption.

This was really enjoyable. Though maybe not as angsty as I might have assumed? Well, this starts off from the harrowing cliffhanger at the end of Beyond Jealousy. Trix was out walking with Zan and got kidnapped off the street, leaving Zan bleeding to death from bullet wounds. We soon find out that Trix has been dragged back to her old home, Sector Five, but not for the reasons we might think. Trix had been yet another of Sector Five's residents who got hooked on the drugs Mac Fleming's men were pushing out, and she had seen herself in love with her older brother's best friend, Finn. Trix had escaped that life, Finn included, gotten clean, and found a family with the O'Kanes in Sector Four.

I did wonder how much of the book was going to take place in Sector Five and how long until we saw the O'Kanes again. Well, it didn't stretch out too long, I think. And it was action-packed from the very start. When Finn finds out that Trix is alive, and not overdosed like he was lead to believe, he goes into super protective mode. Which basically means that he would do whatever he had to do in order to make sure she was safe and got back home to Sector Four. It all happens very quickly, and after a few books now where Mac Fleming was becoming a big, bad villain...the plot just really took off in a different direction than where I thought it would go.

Finn has a reputation from his time in Sector Five. And when he arrives in Sector Four with Trix, his welcome is not exactly welcoming. He has to prove himself amongst the O'Kanes and prove that he's worth something to Trix and the rest of the gang.

He'd been stumbling forward blindly since the moment he met her, stumbling toward self-destruction from the second he lost her. And Trix knew it.

Maybe she didn't realize how much that had changed. He'd told her she'd given him something worth dying for. He'd just assumed she'd understood that all the same things were worth living for.

I loved reading this story. It's a little different from previous stories and books in that Finn is really the first outsider we see having to prove himself to the O'Kanes. Even outsiders like Noah, who was working as a double agent against Mac Fleming, was welcomed easily enough with his hacking skills and the value he brought to the gang. Finn though? He's hurt Trix, he's keeping secrets about her brother from her, and all anyone knows is that he was Mac Fleming's enforcer. It was his way of surviving a terrible life in the sector, but now he has a long road to climb to prove himself and I liked reading his journey.

I liked the romance behind the overarching plot. Trix and Finn were in a really dark, awful place when they were first together in Five. She was on drugs, and he was the one who gave them to her even though he knew they were slowly killing her. But now, they have a chance to start fresh. Sober and clean. No haze clouding their judgment. Trix enjoys the freedom she has with her new family in Four and she's strong despite the horrors she's been through. All these characters have gone through so much, but to come back from the drugs, and very messy situation with her brother, is just heartbreaking to read.

New characters we're introduced to who I loved were Ryder and Lili. We only see a small glimpse at Ryder in Five. We saw that he had escape contingencies in place, and his very being in Five is shrouded in mystery until we read more from his POV chapter. Then there's Lili Fleming, Mac Fleming's daughter and Logan Beckett's wife. She's young, and she was offered as a child bride to Logan by her father. She's been through so much, and while her intro chapter is short, it packs a punch.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Trix and Finn, and can't wait to read the next book in the series!
