   | A quick read with some a mild dash of horror thrown in.

The story follows 9-year old Trisha. She and her brother live with their mother since their parents divorced. And her mothter is determined to take her kids on some trips each weekend. This time it's walking part of the Appalachian Trail that crosses through Main.

And this is where Trisha's adventure begins. Deciding to stay behind as her mother and brother bicker along the way, she takes a left to pee, plannig to catch up with them in no time. However, Trisha gets turned around and is soon lost in the woods. What follows is the clever wit of a 9-year old and some very hard challanges (I cringed so hard at the wasps - if I had been in Trisha's place I probably would just have curled up).

Of course, there is also the horror element coming into play when Trisha is certain that something is following here. (The answer to the question what it is is not too obscure and I did get it, but some parts of it and how Trisha perceives the thing following here are quite hair-raising).
