Christopher was here. He loves these books and reads and rereads them.

These are the kind of books that 2nd and 3rd graders devour. Lots of silly word plays and humor that adults might roll their eyes at but kids simply eat up. In this installment, AJ and his friends are enrolled in the afterschool program and Mr. Tony is the leader/teacher of the group. In his effort to quite smoking, Mr. Tony is looking for ways to keep busy and possibly make it into the Guinness Book of World Records. Of course hilarity ensues. Gutman also uses some great word plays which teachers can use with English Language Learners to talk about language. And there are references to current events. Great book especially for this type of series.

Thanks Mr. Schu for sending it to me.

read this on break at work. these are as fun for me to read as they were 15 years ago (this was my favorite chapter book series). i was shocked at how well i remembered the characters and some of aj’s phrases that i use in my daily life such as “live and in person” etc. and also there are so many books now. i think this is a spin-off series to the original weird school series that is newer. anyways it was fun

Benji says he likes everything. He says this book is fun, "the whole premise of it." Yes, he said premise.
