I received an ARC of this book in November.

Spoiler free thoughts:

While I loved the book and Flavia's new setting, I felt that the ending was rushed an moving in a backwards direction (readers of the book will know what I speak of). So, while I am eager for book 8, I will always feel (in my heart of hearts) that Bradley made an error in concluding the book the day he did.

Another delightful episode in the life of Flavia De Luce. I won't say to much on my thoughts because I don't want to mark this a "spoiler" and what I would add this time could spoil it for fans who haven't read this one.

Three in one: a holy trinity of truth, righteousness, and quick thinking.

In times of torture, even a defiant thought can serve as a soothing salve.

Well begun is half done - only 50% - but there is a satisfaction in making a firm decision which is surely closer to 90-95%.
Making up your mind brings a relief; which "well begun" can't even come close to.

I just love this series. If my daughter grows up to be just even a bit like Flavia, I'd be happy.

Very good! Flavia is sent to Canada to attend boarding school. Little does she know she is being groomed for The Nide. A body is found stuffed in the chimney and she's on the trail of a killer.

Often when i am listening to audio books it is hard to pull apart the things that are about the voice and decisions of the reader and what are about the writing itself. I found the "Canadian" accents very american and unrealistic. I do love Flavia a and I was disappointed with the view of disability that creates individuals as helpless waifs to be pittied or as bitter revenge filled genius. It feels a bit trite at best and I really did expect more from you Flavia!

This was pretty interesting! And it was kind of nice to go to a new location. I expected Flavia to be happy staying there by the end and for them to teach her lots of cool stuff.... but I'm happy with the way it turned out.
