It was a quick and easy read, but not as good as the first one. I still enjoyed the world and would like to read future installments in this series.

This didn't do much for me. If you saw my review of Steam & Sorcery, the first book in this series, you'll recall that I wasn't feeling enough of the steampunk/paranormal vibe that this series claims. This novella definitely turned that up a notch where the villain of the story creates something both mechanical and paranormal, so it gets bonus points for that.

But I have a really difficult time with romance novellas, there's just not enough time to fit in enough romantic tension for my tastes. Not sure that I'll continue with the series, although the next book is titled [b:Kilts & Kraken|13503442|Kilts & Kraken (Gaslight Chronicles, #3)|Cindy Spencer Pape|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1337179651s/13503442.jpg|19052609] ... and those are two of my favorite things.

Considering how short this was, there was WAY too much time and space spent on the "romance" part of it. I don't go in for graphic sex scenes or even graphic "heavy petting" scenes.

Development suffered some due to the shortness of the work, but I thought the writing was good. I like the characters and as much of the world as I got to see here. I would be interested in reading more by this author.

This is actually 1.5 as it is a short story set between the other two novels. A lovely read and enjoyable characters.

I didn't realize this was just a novella. Or I forgot it was a novella between putting it on the Kindle and reading it. I hate novellas. I actually liked the idea of this one and it's well written. But. I hate novellas. I never believe in the romance because it always happens in, like, a day.

Well, apparently this is not the genre for me. I thought it was dumb. If it had been any longer, I wouldn't have finished it.
