Controversial topic, I found this book quite interesting in terms of facts, the flow of the narrative and the interesting aspects of the cultural references and historical research.
Dan Brow does slip in some personal comments, criticism and opinions into the book, and so it cannot be taken at face value, whatever is said in the book.
I found it interesting since I have a love for history and cultures, and in that aspect it is quite nice. But you have to start this book with an open mind, otherwise your own views will clash with the book and you cannot enjoy the book as it should be enjoyed.

Read this in 4 days! The writing style made me want to read more and more chapters to crack the code myself. Though some twists were pretty predictable, still enjoyed the story!

Robert Langdon, a well known expert in religious symbology, is in France for a lecture. He is woken up in the middle of the night by the police because the curator of the Louvre has been murdered. Langdon thinks he has been summoned here to help solve a cryptic message the curator has left, but really he is the primary suspect in the murder. With the help of the curator's granddaughter, Sophie Neveu, they attempt to solve a difficult riddle/puzzle/scavenger hunt to find the Holy Grail, which has been protected for thousands of years by a secret society.

It is an extremely interesting premise, and the mystery aspects of the story were crafted well.

This was not what I was expecting when I got this book. I had heard about it of course, but I didn’t realize it was a murder mystery in search of the Holy Grail. I enjoyed this book much more than I thought. Towards the end I started putting the puzzles together and it was fun.

Overrated, in my opinion. A fun ride at times, but usually boring, predictable, melodramatic, sophomoric. Good for the airplane/airport, if you have nothing else to read.
