Was contemplating dnfing halfway through but I was invested enough to push until the end. Not keeping or rereading, but I liked the different take on the concept of marriage and companionship, especially considering the time period.

I feel like this plot has so much potential, but the telling of it is a little boring. However, it's my first Brontë so perhaps this is just Anne Brontë's style.
Graphic: Infidelity, Abandonment
Moderate: Emotional abuse, Misogyny, Sexism, Gaslighting
Minor: Death, Grief
I read this book because I'd read books by the other two sisters and wanted to see what Anne was like. I was pleasantly surprised. I found it entertaining and enjoyed reading it. It's not one of my favourites but still a good story.
This is now my favorite Brontë novel and only because it’s so lengthy it’s doubtful I’ll ever reread it I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. (Also this review matches the lengthiness of the novel.
Okayyy… I usually don’t love Victorian literature and I didn’t love Jane Eyre when I had to read it last year, but this book was kinda fire. Like Victorian literature is a little slow for me, but I had a fun time hating on her horrible husband!
