Julieta and the Romeos is a sweet story about family and romance and finding one’s way. I loved the characters and the family relationships. Descriptions of the food at the family’s Argentinian restaurant had me salivating, too.

A fun YA rivals to lovers, best friend's brother summer romance featuring two bookish MCs who are both in a competitive writing class and hoping to win the chance at an agent after the end of the summer. I really enjoyed the Argentina culture and the plot to save Julieta's struggling family restaurant. There was good friendship rep, an anonymous online relationship/writing collab, multiple romantic interests and a surprise twist ending. Recommended for fans of Jennifer Dugan, Elise Bryant or Kasie West and good on audio too.

This book is so charming! The writing is lovely (her face lined and alive with electricity, like all those lines are conduits.), the story is sweet, the characters are well-developed and easy to like, and it has many laugh-out-loud moments (“¿Conoces al calvo?” Abuela asks me. I suppress a laugh. Calvo means bald in Spanish. This guy is the direct opposite of bald. “Calvin,” he says). I read this in about a week, and I looked forward to reading it every night.

I don’t read a lot of YA, but this story of self-discovery amidst family pressures was so relatable as an immigrant myself. The struggle between living for yourself and for your parents is very real and very well-portrayed.

I was lucky to receive this ARC, but I will be purchasing a copy myself!

I was lucky enough to get an advanced readers edition of this book and I have to say, it was very cute!

The story is easy to read and the author does a great job of having you get to know Julieta, her family, Ivy and of course the Romeos. Each character was described well and allowed you to form some sort of connection with them. Overall it was a very well done story about growing up, friendship, family values and young love. It definitely is written for a younger audience, and if I were a teen again I’m sure I would have absolutely loved it!

The main downside in my opinion was the pace of the book. It took me quite a bit to get into the story and overall I felt like some parts of the story were rather slow and unmemorable.

For someone my age I’d say it’s a cute, easy read, but you could take it or leave it. For the young adult/teen age group (which obviously is who this book is written for!) I’d say it’s a well developed book worth reading!
