This book was different, the character was different for a change. Joshua is a very unique and funny person and the main reason why I kept reading the book. I enjoyed it but didn't love it
if that makes sense ??

planning to watch the romcoms mentioned here: i think i got sleepless in seattle and the terminal. also stopped reading for a while when Sophia mentioned the lake house and her apparent dislike for it. so i went to watch it. i don't care for the magical mailbox that transcends time and space-- is love supposed to be logical? idk! it's sandra bullock and keanu reeves and romance! (though tbh i would get the heck out of there if i saw the mailbox flag raise up right in front of my own eyes)
Spoiler but Sophia wishing him to be hit by the bus again is just uncalled for. it's keanu reeves!!!

i realize i wrote nothing about the actual story. ok, i related to Sophia many times (she's also POC and into STEM), sibling relationships are great, the writing is quite lovely sometimes, i got to learn a bit more about australian culture... that's all i can think of for now. i found that the friendship between Sophia and Elsie had much more emotional impact on me than the actual romance. i was confused, apparently Joshua was trying to "fix" her.. i did not get that at all. after reading some reviews my thoughts about Sophia were confirmed ie. they thought she's autistic but this was never fully explored nor acknowledged. i thought Joshua was respectful enough towards Sophia but then he's like "you don't know her like i do" idk! idk. also where are their parents?

I couldn't finish this. I stopped with 20% to go, which is about the point I lost hope it would get interesting. The idea was good. The premise was good. The execution lacked. Can't figure out what it lacked exactly. The conversation seemed a bit contrived. This random extra caricature somehow became a protagonist's friend without showing anybody why he was interesting. Josh told us he was warming to him but I have no idea why. But of course he plays a pivotal role later on in being sort of a match-maker. Josh and Sophia fall in love - of course - but again, I don't really know why.
Maybe it was me. But I didn't get into this book at all.

Totally cute and quirky.
Such thoughtful, likeable and interesting characters.

A refreshing reflection on the contradictions that make up our beings and our lives, on rational/cerebral thought processes, what makes us anxious and all the assumptions we make about ourselves and just about everything!

This was a really chilled book. there was only relationship tension which was a nice change. I really liked the ending and I would definitely recommend to anyone look for a casual read :-)

nailed it. some nerds are highly atypical in intellectual character, as well as emotionally. if some people feel these people are any less human than the typical crowd, they need a serious widening of their understanding of what "human" means. this book helps do that.

This one just fell a bit flat to me. I had no care for the general story or characters, in fact, I didn't really feel there was a strong story at all and what was there of a story felt a bit rushed. I will say the characters felt three dimensional, each harboring different personalities, but I still just didn't really care for their story in general.

Also not sure if the kindle version or the book in general, but there was a couple editing issues with not separating different people speaking in different paragraphs
