One of the best middle-grade reads I've found since Nevermoor. The main thread of comedy runs throughout, but it is balanced with heavier feelings. Truly lovely. A wee bit heartbreaking. A big bit happy. Themes of family and loss and fear, also hope and friendship and bravery.

Loved. It. Thank you, Mr. Hernandez.

This book is part of the "Rick Riordan Presents" publishing, but it does not deal with gods/mythology/magic exactly. Instead, this book considers the idea of the multiverse--multiple universes existing simultaneously.

I would recommend this book for middle-grade/young adults who are interested in fantasy and science fiction, but with a solid grounding in real life/realistic fiction.

This is also a solid book for patrons looking for books about friendship and found families, even amongst middle schoolers.

As it maybe known, I love checking out all the books in the Rick Riordan Presents lineup because I never know what I'm going to get. This one is no exception. I was hooked early on and enjoyed seeing Gabi and Sal's relationship develop after that first meeting.
