A Game for All the Family by Sophie Hannah

I usually really enjoy Sophie Hannah's books but this read was disappointing. I found the main character a little annoying and some of the other characters felt 2-dimensional and unrealistic. The plot was not quite strong enough and I was more interested in the secondary story which ran alongside and which did create intrigue. I persevered until the end hoping for a twist or reveal which made the whole book worth it but I was left even more disappointed. The ending left me feeling a little deflated and annoyed and took it down from 3 to 2 stars.

This disappointed me. Also, the tag line "he's not your son but you have to save him" is misleading. Parts were too far fetched even for fiction, and many of the characters had no substance.

This book started good but got stupider and stupider until a very silly end.

I can't praise this highly enough, there's suspense and a nice twist. Brilliant and well worth reading.

Maybe it's just my affinity for British culture and slang, but I loved this book. It was mysterious, intriguing, and at time hilarious. I loved the protagonist's attitude and her motherly rage rants when the situation became crazy. A great read.

I’m gonna be honest, I don’t have a clue was I just read. It was funny for sure, but the mystery is kinda confusing.

Lord. What in the world did I just read.

Trippy. Gothic. Mind games. And just too much going on to maintain suspension of disbelief. Like literally none of the characters felt like they could possibly be real.

430+ pages and all the time spent reading that, that I’ll never get back.

My first book by this author, certainly will not be my last. She kept me guessing until the end!
